AFYAPLUS Job Vacancies, June 2023; Afya Plus is seeking applications for the following job positions: Social Services and Linkage Officer and Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Officer.

Afya Plus is a local Non-Governmental Organization registered in Tanzania under the NGOs Act No.24 of 2002 in August 2016. Its goal is to contribute towards building high-quality and equitable health systems, delivering people-centered health services through evidence-based interventions, and ultimately improving access to quality-integrated health services in the community.

Project Overview

Afya Plus is a member of a consortium led by Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC) and includes Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The consortium has been awarded a 5-year grant by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the “Comprehensive Child Centered Care and Services (C4s)” Activity. The project aims to ensure health facilities in priority areas provide high-quality integrated pediatric HIV services and improve access to comprehensive health and other services for children and adolescents.

The project will support the end of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (eMTCT), close the HIV treatment gap for children and adolescents living with HIV (C/ALHIV), and drive TB elimination and well-being for C/ALHIV in Tanzania. Afya Plus will coordinate the implementation and provide technical assistance to achieve the project’s goals.

Afya Plus is seeking applications for the following job positions:

Social Services and Linkage Officer (1 Post)

Direct Supervisor: CLM and Social Services Linkage Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam

Job Summary:

Serve as technical lead on social service integration and linkages within the C4s Activity.
Design tools for implementing an efficient client-centered linkage system to enhance bi-directional referral mechanisms for C/ALHIV.
Work with stakeholders to develop/update national guidelines, policies, tools, and packages for integration of social services and referral mechanisms.
Monitor collaboration between C4s and other partners to improve access to social services for OVCs and C/ALHIV.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Medicine, or Nursing (Master’s in public health is an advantage)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS programs, with a focus on linkages to social services and community-based projects
  • In-depth understanding of Pediatric, adolescents, and youths HIV-related policies and programs in Tanzania
  • Experience with USG-funded health and/or development programs
  • Management skills and previous supervisory experience
  • Capacity-building experience, including mentorship, coaching, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English

Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Officer (1 Post)

Direct Supervisor: CLM and Social Services Linkage Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam

Job Summary:

Provide technical support on CLM activities to improve social integration and linkages between facilities and community-based services for C/ALHIV.
Design and implement CLM activities to enhance access and quality of HIV services.
Participate in the development and dissemination of national guidelines, policies, tools, and packages related to CLM.
Collaborate with regional stakeholders and USAID projects to improve utilization of social services for OVCs and C/ALHIV.
Support effective linkages between projects and partners engaged in child and adolescent health and wellbeing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Medicine, or Nursing (Master’s in public health is an advantage)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS and quality-related programs, with a focus on linkages to social services and community-based projects
  • In-depth understanding of Pediatric, adolescents, and youths HIV-related policies, quality improvement frameworks, and systems issues in Tanzania
  • Experience with USG-funded health and/or development programs
  • Demonstrated CLM skills and experience working with community structures or social accountability systems
  • Capacity-building experience, including mentorship, coaching, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English
